ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-88-KERALA BLASTERS FC VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC

North East United FC held Kerala Blasters FC to a goalless draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi despite being one man down. This result confirmed fourth place finish for North East and sets up a clash with the table toppers Bengaluru FC in semifinals, while Kerala finished their campaign at the ninth position in the table. In the 12th minute Poplatnik played, a lovely ball to Pekuson and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but his shot just missed the target by a whisker. In the 23rd minute, the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Gurwinder picked up a straight red card for an unfair challenge inside the box. In the 34th minute Pekuson tried, his luck from a distance towards the near post, but his shot hit the post and went out of play. In the 39th minute, Poplatnik fired a shot from outside the box towards the Goa, but his shot went off target. At the stroke of the half time, Kizito played a lovely through ball to Doungel inside the box and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but the keeper blocked it using his chest and both the side entered the break without breaking the deadlock.
North East held Kerala to a Goalless Draw despite being 1 man down
As the second half started in the next minute Triadis received the ball from the backline and played the ball into the path of Fanai before the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but the keeper saved his shot easily. However, the rebound fell into the path of Fanai, but his shot was blocked by Anas, which fell into the path of Gallego who ended up hitting his shot wide of the target. In the 53rd minute Samad chested down the long ball after he received it from the backline before he passed the ball to Poplatnik and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but his shot went just over the bar. A couple of minutes later Pritam’s cross from the left found the head of Stojanovic who headed it towards the target, but his header went straight into the hands of the keeper. In the 69th minute, Stojanovic went for the glory from a distance, which took a deflection of Ghosh and went towards the goal, but the keeper made a top save by punching away the ball for a corner. In the 87th minute, Prasanth sent a cross inside the box which found the head of Poplatnik and the latter flicked it towards Bodo who fired a shot towards the goal, but the keeper saved his shot easily by getting low. Finally, 10 man North East United held Kerala Blasters to a goalless draw in their last league match of this season.
