ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-81-FC PUNE CITY VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC
Match 81 of Indian Super League 5, held on Feb 20 ,saw the FC Pune City play against North East United FC.
FC Pune City and North East United FC played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. North East United FC had 59% possession than Pune City’s 41%.
FC Pune City won the toss and chose their side. Both the teams in the initial minutes played in the midfield rather than going for the attack. In the 13th minute, Carlos played a ball to Vila and the latter fired a shot towards the target, but the keeper saved his shot easily as it lacked enough power. In the 19th minute, Triadis fired a shot towards the goal from outside the box, but his shot went above the crossbar. In the 39th minute Lalthathanga squared, the ball to Triadis on the left and the latter tried to curl the ball at the far post, but his shot went wide of the target. In the next minute, Carlos went passed a couple of defenders before sending a shot across the face of goal and Hume managed to slot the ball into the empty net, but the goal was disallowed as the Linesman waved the flag offside. A couple of minutes later a shot from the corner found Adil in the middle and the latter headed the ball straight into the hands of the keeper. Finally, both the sides entered the break without breaking the deadlock.

As the second half started in the 46th minute North East took the lead as Borges played one-two with Ogbeche and the latter played a pass into the box and the keeper came out of his line to collect the ball, but Borges slotted the ball into the empty net as the keeper failed to collect the ball properly. In the 69th minute, Pune scored an equalizer as Kuruniyan sets Carlos free on the left and the latter sent a cross at the far post which found Adil Khan unmarked and he smashed the ball into the top corner to bring his team back on level terms. In the 72nd minute, Ashique tried to put a cross, which took a deflection of Reagan and went towards the back of the net, but the keeper brilliantly pushed it with his hands for a corner. In the 80th minute, a long throw-in from Pune fell into the path of Hume and the latter fired his shot towards the target, but his shot hit the post and went out of play. A couple of minutes later Carlos played a lovely cross from the left which found the head of Hume, but the latter could not keep his header on target as it went over the bar. In the 88th minute Lalthathanga sent a cross into the middle of the box, which found the head of Ogbeche, but his header fell straight into the hands of the keeper. In the next minute, Leudo was given the marching orders after receiving his second yellow card of the game when he pulled down Carlos in the field. Finally, both the teams settled for a stalemate with an entertaining game.
