Match 64 of Indian Super League 5, held on Jan 30 ,saw the Bengaluru FC play against North East United FC.

Bengaluru FC retained their top spot after their win over North East United by 2-1 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore. Gurpreet Singh Goalkeeping master class denied North East United a well-deserved win as he made nine saves in the game, which helped Bengaluru back to winning ways and kept their unbeaten run at the fortress. North East United had 56% possession than Bengaluru’s 44%.

North East United FC won the toss and chose their side. In the eighth minute, Sunil laid the ball to Dimas and the latter’s shot went wide of the target. In the 14th minute, the hosts drew the first blood on courtesy of a set piece. Sunil played the ball to Udanta outside the box and the latter squared the ball inside the box, which took a deflection of Komorski and ended up inside the net. In the 26th minute, Tlang tried to send, the ball into the danger area, but Rino Anto cleared it away for a corner. The resulting corner was punched away by the keeper, but Komorski headed the rebound ball wide of the target. A couple of minutes later Reagan chipped in a ball to Ogbeche inside the box, but the latter’s header went over the crossbar in the end. In the 33rd minute, Rahul’s long throw-in was flicked by Paartalu which found Udanta and the latter passed the ball to Sunil, but Sunil’s shot towards the far post went wide of the target. In the 37th minute, Ogbeche passed the ball to Reagan Singh on the right who was through on goal while the Bengaluru’s player was appealing for an offside call, but Reagan’s shot towards the near post was saved brilliantly by Gurpreet. The resulting corner was taken from Gallego who sent a cross which found the head of Grgic, but the latter’s header was punched it away by Gurpreet to a corner. Finally, Bengaluru headed into the break with a 1-0 lead.

As the second half started in the 48th minute Robert from the left played a lovely cross which found Komorski and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but his shot went over the crossbar. A couple of minutes later the visitors were denied a penalty after Sandhu brought down Ogbeche inside the box. In the 59th minute, Gallego’s corner found Ogbeche in the box and the latter headed it towards the post, to his dismay the ball touched Sandhu’s feet and went for a corner. In the next minute, North East scored an equalizer as Robert played a long ball towards the goal, which found Gallego who got past Juanan and calmly slotted the ball through the keeper’s legs into the net. In the next minute, Reagan played a ball towards the goal which found Ogbeche and the latter fired a shot towards the target, but the keeper made a terrific save with his legs to a deny a goal. In the 68th minute Lalthathanga, played Triadis through on goal and the latter fired a shot towards the far post, but the keeper made himself big to stop the ball with his legs. However, the rebound ball found Ogbeche who tried to curl the ball towards the target, but Sandhu once again made a good save by collecting the ball comfortably. A couple of minutes later the hosts took the lead through Super-sub Chencho. Rahul’s long throw-in was flicked by Juanan which found Chencho at the far post and the latter slotted the ball into the net calmly to give his side a 2-1 lead. In the 77th minute, Gallego sent a through ball to Ogbeche, but the latter’s shot towards the target went over the bar. Four minutes from the regulation time Keagan played a ball to Mascia from outside the box, but the latter’s header went straight into the hands of the keeper. In the added time Gallego chipped in a ball to the far post, which found Mascia and the latter went for a volley with his knee, but Sandhu made another brilliant save by diving towards his right. Finally, Bengaluru got back to their winning ways and moved to the top spot with a 2-1 win over North East United.
