Qualifier 2 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Jan 3, saw the Gujarat Fortune Giants play against UP Yoddha.

Gujarat Fortune Giants prevailed over Yoddha by 38-31 to reach their second straight Final at the Dome NSCI SVP Stadium in Mumbai. Sachin top-scored in the game with nine raid points, while Nitesh was the lone warrior for Yoddha with six tackle points and he also became the first player to reach 100 tackle points in a single season.

Gujarat entered the break with a 5-point lead

Sachin started the proceedings of the game with a successful raid, while Prashanth opened the account for Yoddha with a two-point raid. Sachin’s two-point raid followed up by Prapanjan’s successful raid gave Gujarat a 5-3 lead. However, Rishank’s successful raid and Nitesh ankle hold on Prapanjan leveled the scores at five points, which was the first tackle points of the night. Sachin’s two successive raids followed up by Prapanjan’s two-point raid reduced Yoddha to three men on the court. However, Sachin Kumar and Nitesh Kumar’s super tackle on Prapanjan leveled the scores for Yoddha at 11 points each. Kumar’s dash on Sachin followed up by Shrikant’s touch on Sunil gave Yoddha a 2-point lead. However, Sachin Kumar’s self-out followed up by Rohit’s two-point raid reduced Yoddha to three men on the court. In the 18th minute, Gujarat inflicted an all-out on Yoddha after Parvesh’s tackle on Azad to take a 19-14 lead heading into the break.

Gujarat prevails over Yoddha to reach VIVO PKL Final for the 2nd straight year

As the second half started, Gujarat picked up first four points of the half in the initial five minutes. Rohit’s successful raid followed up by Parvesh ankle hold on Azad reduced Yoddha to a single player on the mat. In the 28th minute, Gujarat inflicted another all-out on Yoddha with Sachin’s successful raid to take a 28- 14 lead. Jeeva’s tackle on Sachin finally ended Gujarat’s 14 straight points in the half. Nitesh completed his high five in the 31st minute with a tackle on Rohit Gulia. However, Sachin Kumar’s three successive raids reduced Gujarat to a single player on the mat. However, Sachin Vittala’s two-point raid increased Gujarat’s lead to 11 points, but Shrikant managed to inflict an all-out on Gujarat in the next raid with a two-point raid to reduce the deficit to seven points. Yoddha reduced the deficit to five points on courtesy of Shrikant’s two successive raids. However, a self-out from Sachin Kumar and Rohit’s touch on Rohit halted the hopes of Yoddha. Rohit Gulia picked up the last point of the night as Gujarat booked their place in the final for the second successive year with a superb victory.
