TIE 21-DELHI DASHERS VS PUNE 7 ACES

Tie 21 of Premier Badminton League 4, held on Jan 6 ,saw the Delhi Dashers play against Pune 7 Aces.

Pune 7 Aces defeated Delhi Dashers by 5-0 with a dominant victory at The Arena Trans Stadia in Ahmedabad. This win took them to the third spot in the table and kept their playoffs hope alive with this dominant performance.

MATCH 1 – Mixed Doubles

The first match of the Tie was between Maneepong Jongjit and Evgenya Kosetskaya of Delhi Dashers and L.H.Kjaersfeldt and V.Ivanov of Pune 7 Aces in the Mixed Doubles Category. It was a trump match for Pune 7 Aces. In the first game, Pune picked up the first point with Line’s beautiful drop. From then both the sides exchanged points between them and the lead kept on swinging like a pendulum until three points. Pune took a 5-3 lead with Ivanov’s forehand winner. However, Delhi reduced the deficit to one point with Evgenya’s exquisite drop. Pune took a 2-point after Jongjit’s service fault. After the break, Pune extended their lead to 10-7 with Ivanov’s forehand winner. Delhi reduced the deficit to one point after Line’s shot went out. Pune further extended their lead to 13-9 with Ivanov’s backhand winner. Finally, Pune won the first game comfortably by 15-9 after Evgenya’s shot went out.

In the second game, Delhi won the first point with Jongit’s forehand winner. Delhi took a 4-2 lead after Ivanov’s forehand-unforced error before Pune leveled it up at four points after Jongjit’s shot went wide. Delhi took a 6-4 lead with Jongjit’s forehand winner. However, Pune leveled the scores at seven points each after Evgenya’s unforced error. Delhi took a 1-point lead at the break with Jongjit’s forehand winner. After the break, Pune took a 10-9, lead after Jongjit’s forehand-unforced error. However, Delhi leveled the scores at 11 points each after Line’s forehand-unforced error. However, Delhi once again leveled the scores at 14 points each with Jongjit’s forehand winner. Finally, the Delhi pair forced the game into the decider by 15-14 after Line’s forehand shot went long.

In the third game, Delhi won the first point with Jongjit’s backhand winner before Pune leveled it up with Evgenya’s error. However, Pune leveled the scores at three points each after Jongjit’s forehand-unforced error. Pune took a 6-4 lead with Ivanov’s 330 KMPH smash at the body of Kosetskaya. Pune took a 3-point lead at the break with Ivanov’s backhand winner. After the break, Pune extended their lead to 11-6 after Evgenya’s forehand-unforced error. Pune further extended their lead to 13-8 with Line’s cross-court smash. Finally, Pune won their trump match by 15-8 after Evgenya’s miss-shot that gave Pune a 2-0 lead in the Tie.

MATCH 2- Men’s Singles

The second match of the Tie was between Chirag Sen of Delhi Dashers and Lakshya Sen of Pune 7 Aces in the Men’s Singles Category. In the first game, Lakshya won the first point after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error. Lakshya took a 4-1 lead after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error. However, Chirag reduced the deficit to one point with Lakshya’s forehand-unforced error. Lakshya went into the break with a 2-point lead with a forehand winner. After the break, Chirag leveled the scores at eight points each with a forehand winner. Chirag took an 11-9 lead after Lakshya’s forehand-unforced error. Lakshya took a 14-12 lead with a cross-court winner. Finally, Lakshya won the first game by 15-11 with a forehand winner.

In the second game, Chirag won the first point with a backhand winner. Lakshya leveled the scores at three points each with a forehand winner. Chirag took a 5-3 lead after Lakshya’s shot went out. Lakshya leveled the scores at six points each after Chirag’s shot went wide before he took a 1-point lead at the break. After the break, Lakshya extended his lead to 12-9 with a delightful drop shot. However, Chirag reduced the deficit to two points with a forehand winner. Finally, Lakshya won the match in straight games by 15-11 after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error that gave Pune a 3-0 lead in the Tie.

MATCH 3- Women’s Singles

The third match of the Tie was between Evgenya Kosetskaya of Delhi Dashers and Carolina Marin of Pune 7 Aces in the Women’s Singles Category. In the first game, Evgenya picked up the first point with a cross-court smash. Marin leveled the scores at two points each after Evgenya’s shot went wide. Marin took a 5-2 lead after Evgenya’s forehand-unforced error. Marin took a hefty 5-point lead with a forehand winner. After the break, Pune extended her lead to 11-3 with a cross-court winner. Finally, Marin won the first game comfortably by 15-5 with a cross-court winner.

In the second game Evgenya won the first point after Marin’s forehand shot went wide. Marin took a 3-1 lead with a superb drop shot. Marin extended her lead to 6-3 after Evgenya’s forehand-unforced error. Marin took a 4-point lead at the break after Evgenya’s shot went wide. After the break Marin extended her lead to 11-4 lead after Evgenya’s forehand went long. Marin further extended her lead to 13-5 with a forehand winner. Finally, Marin won the match in straight games by 15-6 with a forehand winner that confirmed the Tie for them with an unassailable 4-0 lead in the Tie.

MATCH 4- Men’s Doubles

The fourth match of the Tie was between Chai Biao and Maneepong Jongjit of Delhi Dashers and Mathias Boe and Chirag Shetty of Pune 7 Aces in the Men’s Doubles Category. It was a trump match for Delhi Dashers. In the first game, Delhi won the first point with Biao’s forehand drop shot before Delhi took a 3-0 lead after Mathias misjudgment. Delhi further extended their lead to 5-2 after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error. Delhi took a 4-point lead at the break with Jongjit’s cross-court smash. After the break, Delhi extended their lead to 10-4 with Biao’s 322 KMPH smash. Delhi extended their lead further to 13-7 with Jongjit’s forehand smash down the line. Finally, Delhi won the first game by 15-9 after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error.

In the second game, Delhi won the first point after Chirag’s forehand-unforced error before they took a 3-0 lead after Chirag’s error at the net. Delhi extended their lead further to 6-3 with Jongjit’s forehand winner. However, Pune leveled the scores at six points each with Biao’s forehand-unforced error. Pune took a 2-point lead at the break with Jongjit’s unforced error. After the break, Pune extended their lead to 10-7 with Chirag’s forehand winner. Pune further extended the lead to 13-9 with Chirag’s forehand winner. Finally, Pune forced the game into the decider by 15-10 after Biao’s backhand-unforced error.

In the third game, Delhi won the first point with Biao’s cross-court winner before they took a 3-1 lead with Chirag’s forehand-unforced error. Pune leveled the scores at three points each with a ferocious smash. Pune took a 6-4 lead after Jongjit’s forehand-unforced error. Delhi leveled the scores at six points each with Jongjit’s forehand winner before Pune took a 1-point lead at the break with Chirag’s cross-court winner. After the break, Pune extended their lead to 10-7 with Jongjit’s forehand-unforced error. However, Delhi reduced the deficit to one point with Chirag’s forehand-unforced error. Finally, Pune won against the trump by 15-13 after Jongjit’s forehand-unforced error that gave Pune a 5-(-1) lead in the Tie.

MATCH 5- Men’s Singles

The fifth match of the Tie was between Tommy Sugiarto of Delhi Dashers and Brice Leverdez of Pune 7 Aces in the Men’s Singles Category. In the first game, Tommy took a 2-point lead after Brice forehand went wide. Tommy extended his lead to 4-1 after Brice forehand shot caught the net. Tommy took a comfortable 4-point lead at the break. After the break, Brice reduced the deficit to three points with a 337 KMPH jump smash. Tommy extended his lead further to 11-6 with Brice forehand error. Finally, Tommy won the first game by 15-7 with Brice forehand-unforced error.

In the second game, Brice took the first point after Tommy’s smash caught the net. Tommy took a 3-2 lead with a forehand winner. Brice took a 5-4 lead with Tommy’s service error. However, Tommy took a 7-5 lead after Brice’s forehand shot went wide. Tommy took a 2-point lead at the break with a jump smash down the line. After the break, Tommy extended his lead to 11-7 after Brice forehand shot went wide. Tommy extended his lead to 13-7 after Brice shot went long. However, Brice reduced the deficit to one point after Tommy’s forehand-unforced error. Finally, Tommy picked up a consolation win by 15-14 with Brice unforced error that ended the Tie in favor of Pune 7 Aces by 5-0.
