TIE 16-DELHI DASHERS VS BENGALURU RAPTORS

Tie 16 of Premier Badminton League 4, held on Jan 2 ,saw the Delhi Dashers play against Bengaluru Raptors.

Bengaluru Raptors came up with a crucial 2-1 win over Delhi at The Arena by SE Trans Stadia in Ahmedabad. After the trumps nullified each other and in the remaining three matches, Raptors came up with a win and moved to the fifth spot in the table.

MATCH 1 – Men’s Singles

The first match of the Tie was between H.S.Prannoy of Delhi Dashers and Sai Praneeth of Bengaluru Raptors in the Men’s Singles Category. It was a trump match for Delhi Dashers. In the first game, Praneeth won the first point of the game with a forehand smash before he raced to an early 3-0 lead with a forehand winner. Praneeth won the first point of the game with a cross-court smash. Praneeth extended his lead to 5-1 with a toss shot. Prannoy reduced the deficit to 3-points after Praneeth’s shot went wide. However, Praneeth took a 3-point lead at the break with Prannoy’s miss-shot. After the break, Prannoy leveled the scores at 10 points with Praneeth’s unforced error. Praneeth extended his lead to 13-10 after Prannoy’s forehand-unforced error. Finally, Praneeth won the first game by 15-12 after Prannoy’s forehand shot went long.

In the second game, Praneeth won the first point of the game after Prannoy’s unforced error. Both the players exchanged points between them to keep the score ticking before Prannoy took a 6-5 lead with a thumping smash. However, Praneeth took a 1-point lead at the break with a delicate drop shot. After the break, Prannoy leveled the scores at 10 points each after his shot dropped off the top of the net. Prannoy extended his lead to 13-10 with Praneeth’s forehand-unforced errors. However, Praneeth leveled the scores at 13 points each with a forehand smash. Finally, Prannoy forced the game into the decider by 15-14 with a delicate drop shot.

In the third game, Praneeth picked up the first point after Prannoy’s unforced error. Prannoy then took an early 3-1 lead after Praneeth’s forehand shot went long. However, Prannoy leveled the scores at five points each with Praneeth’s forehand-unforced error. Praneeth took a 2-point lead at the break after Prannoy’s forehand shot caught the net. After the break, Praneeth extended his lead to 12-8 with a backhand winner. However, Prannoy reduced the deficit to a single point with a cross-court winner. Finally, Praneeth won against the match by 15-13 with Prannoy’s backhand error that gave Raptors a 1-(-1) lead in the Tie.

MATCH 2- Mixed Doubles

The second match of the Tie was between M. Jongjit and E.Kosetskaya of Delhi Dashers and Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith of Bengaluru Raptors in the Mixed Doubles Category. It was a trump match for Bengaluru Raptors. In the first game, Raptors took the first point of the game with Marcus smash. Raptors extended their lead to 5-1 with Lauren’s forehand smash. However, Delhi leveled the scores at five points each with Evgenya’s forehand winner. Raptors took a 1-point lead at the break after Jongjit’s shot caught the net. After the break both the players exchanged points between them to keep the score ticking before raptors took an 11-10 lead with Lauren’s ferocious smash. However, Delhi took, a 14-12 lead after Marcus shot went long. Finally, Delhi won the first game by 15-13 with a forehand smash.

In the second game, Delhi won the first point with Evgenya’s cross court winner before they raced to an early 3-0 lead after Evgenya’s shot dropped off the top of the net. However, Raptors leveled the scores at five points each with Jongjit’s unforced error. Delhi took a 2-point lead at the break after Lauren’s shot went long. After the break, Delhi extended their lead to 10-7 with Jongjit’s brilliant smash. Delhi further extended their lead to 14-9 with Jongjit’s cross-court smash. Finally, Delhi won against the trump in straight games by 15-9 with Evgenya’s cross court winner that helped Delhi to level the scores in the Tie.

MATCH 3- Men’s Singles

The third match of the Tie was between Tommy Sugiarto of Delhi Dashers and Srikanth Kidambi of Bengaluru Raptors in the Men’s Singles Category. In the first game, Srikanth won the first point after Tommy’s forehand went long and raced to an early 4-1 lead with Tommy’s unforced error. Srikanth extended his lead to 7-3 with a ferocious smash before he took a 5-point lead at the break. After the break, Tommy reduced the deficit to two-points by picking up three points on a trot. However, Srikanth extended his lead to 13-6 with a cross-court drop. Finally, Srikanth won the first game by 15-6 after Srikanth’s shot landed safely inside the court.

In the second game, Srikanth won the first point with a forehand winner before Tommy raced to an early 4-1 lead after his shot landed safely inside the court. Tommy took a hefty 5-point lead after Srikanth’s forehand went wide. After the break, Srikanth reduced the deficit to three points with a thunderous smash. However, Tommy extended his lead to 13-8 with a forehand smash. Srikanth reduced the deficit to one point with a forehand winner. Finally, Tommy forced the game into the decider by 15-12 with a forehand smash.

In the third game, Srikanth picked up the first point with a great smash. Srikanth extended his lead to 5-2 with excellent placement. However, Tommy reduced the deficit to three points with a bodyline smash before Srikanth took a 4-point lead at the break. After the break, Srikanth extended his lead to 11-5 with an excellent net play. However, Tommy reduces the deficit to four points with a body smash. Finally, Srikanth won the match by 15-10 with a ferocious smash that gave Raptors a 1-0 lead in the Tie.

MATCH 4- Women’s Doubles

The fourth match of the Tie was between C.H.Lee of Delhi Dashers and T.T.Vu of Bengaluru Raptors in the Women’s Singles Category. In the first game, Lee won the first point with a lovely drop shot and extended her lead to 5-2 with a 219 KMPH smash. However, Trang reduced the deficit to three points with Lee’s unforced error before she leveled the scores at seven points each after Lee’s shot went out. Trang took a 1-point lead at the break after Lee’s shot went wide. After the break, Lee leveled the scores at 10 points each after Trang’s unforced error. Lee extended her lead to 13-10 with a forehand winner. Finally, Lee won the first game by 15-12 after Lee’s shot landed safely inside the line.

In the second game, Trang won the first point after Lee’s forehand shot went wide before she took a quick 4-1 lead with Lee’s forced error. Trang extended her lead to 7-1 lead with a forehand winner before she took a hefty 7-point lead. After the break, Trang extended her lead to 13-2 with a lovely drop shot. Finally, Trang forced the game into the decider by 15-3 with a dominant display in the game.

In the third game, Trang won the first point after Lee’s shot went long. Trang took a 3-1 lead after Lee’s shot went long before Lee took a 1-point lead after Trang’s shot went wide. Trang leveled the scores at five points each with a superb smash before she took a 2-point lead at the break. After the break, Trang extended her lead to 10-6 after Lee’s error at the net. Trang extended her lead further to 13-8 after Lee’s forehand-unforced error. Finally, Trang won the match by 15-8 with a forehand winner that confirmed the Tie for Raptors as they took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the Tie.

MATCH 5- Men’s Doubles

The fifth match of the Tie was between M. Jongjit and C. Biao of Delhi Dashers and H.Setiawan and M. Ahsan of Bengaluru Raptors in the Men’s Doubles Category. In the first game, Delhi won the first point after Setiawan’s unforced error. Raptors leveled the scores at four points each with Jongjit’s unforced error. Delhi took an 8-5 lead at the break after Setiawan’s unforced error. After the break, Delhi extended their lead to 11-7 with Jongjit’s strong backhand shot. Finally, Delhi won the first game by 15-7 after Ahsan’s forehand-unforced error.

In the second game, Raptors won the first point with Setiawan’s forehand winner before they raced to an early 3-0 lead with Setiawan’s forehand smash. However, Delhi fought back well and reduced the deficit to one point with Biao’s ferocious smash before Raptors took a 2-point lead at the break. After the break Raptors extended their lead to 11-7 after Jongjit’s shot caught the net. However, Delhi reduced the deficit to two points with Biao’s powerful smash. Finally, Raptors forced the game into the decider by 15-11 with Ahsan’s forehand smash.

In the third game, Delhi took the first point after Biao’s forehand winner and Raptors leveled it with Ahsan’s body smash. Both the teams traded points between them and kept the score ticking as Jongjit’s thunderous smash leveled the scores at five points each. However, Raptors headed into the break with a 1-point lead after Biao’s unforced error. After the break Delhi leveled, the scores at 10 points each after Setiawan’s forehand shot went long. Raptors took a 14-13 lead with Setiawan’s body smash before Delhi leveled it up after Ahsan’s backhand-unforced error. Finally, Delhi won the match by 15-14 with Jongjit’s drop shot that helped Delhi to pick up at least one point from the Tie.
