QUALIFIER 1-GUJARAT FORTUNE GIANTS VS BENGALURU BULLS

Qualifier 1 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Dec 31, saw the Gujarat Fortune Giants play against Bengaluru Bulls.

Pawan and Rohit Kumar inspire Bengaluru Bulls to book a place in the final after they defeated Gujarat Fortune Giants by 41-29 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi. Pawan top scored in the game with 13 raid points ably supported by Rohit Kumar with 11 raid points, which also included a High 5.

All square at the end of first half

Rohit Kumar and Rohit Gulia started the proceedings of the game with an empty raid. Pawan and Sachin opened the account for their respective teams with a successful raid. In the initial exchanges both, the teams were on level terms at five points with Sachin scoring all points for Gujarat while Pawan and Rohit together scored for Bulls. Prapanjan successful raid followed up by Sachin’s 2-point raid gave Gujarat a 2-point lead before Bulls leveled it with Rohit’s successful raid followed up by Ajay’s block on Prapanjan. In the next minute, Gujarat picked up their first, tackle point of the night with Koravi’s tackle on Pawan. Rohit and Pawan added a raid point each before Gujarat reduced Bulls to three men on the mat by scoring four points on a trot. Substitute Sumit picked up two points in successive do-or-die raids and Gujarat entered the break with a 14-13 lead.

Bulls book a place in the final with a splendid comeback in the last 5 minutes

As the second half started both the sides added two tackle and raid points each to their tally before Bulls leveled the scores at 18 points each with Mahender’s tackle on Prapanjan. Sachin’s two successive points followed up by Hadi’s tackle on Harish reduced the Bulls to two players on the mat. In the 30th minute, Gujarat inflicted an all-out on Bulls with Parvesh tackle on Rohit to take a 25-20 lead. Post the all-out Pawan’s super raid and Rohit’s tackle on Prapanjan reduced Gujarat to three men on the mat. In the next raid, Pawan managed to get a touch on all players before Parvesh stepped out of the lobby to inflict an all-out on Gujarat and helped Bulls to take a 29-26 lead. Pawan’s two successive raid points followed up by Rohit and Mahender’s tackle point gave Bulls a 7-point lead with four minutes left in the game. Hadi’s two-point raid forged a comeback for Gujarat, but Rohit’s two more tackle points on Sachin and the former followed up by Pawan’s two-point raid reduced Gujarat to one player on the mat. In the next minute, Bulls inflicted another all-out on Gujarat with Mahender’s tackle on Lalit to take a 40-29 lead and completed his High 5 in the process. Mahender picked up the last point of the game with an ankle hold on Dharmender as the clock expired Bulls booked a place in the Final.
