Pro Kabaddi League – Season 6 – ELIMINATOR 1-U MUMBA VS UP YODDHA

Eliminator 1 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Dec 30, saw the U Mumba play against UP Yoddha.

A brilliant defensive performance by Yoddha helped them to defeat U Mumba by 34-29 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi. Nitesh Kumar top scored in the game with eight tackle points ably supported by Jeeva Kumar with a High 5.

Yoddha entered the break with a 3-point lead

Rishank started the proceedings of the game with an empty raid. Siddharth and Shrikant picked up the first point for their respective teams with a successful raid. Both the teams after the initial exchanges were leveled at three points each before Rohit’s two successive raids gave U Mumba a two-point lead. However, Yoddha leveled the scores with Prashanth’s two-point raid. Nitesh tackle on Siddharth followed up by Shrikant’s two successive raids reduced U Mumba to a single player on the mat. In the ninth minute, Yoddha inflicted an all-out on U Mumba with Vinod’s unsuccessful raid to take an 11-7 lead. Post the all-out U Mumba added two quick points before Siddharth got tackle by Jeeva Kumar. Narender and Nitesh tackled Rohit and Darshan to give Yoddha a 5-point lead. However, three tackle points from U Mumba defenders followed up by Darshan’s successful raid reduced their deficit to three points. Yoddha entered the break with an 18-15 lead.

As the second half started Rishank’s two successive raids followed up by Nitesh tackle on Siddharth gave Yoddha a 21-16 lead. Shrikant’s three points in two raids gave Yoddha a 7-point lead over U Mumba. However, Fazel’s tackle on Rishank followed up by three raid points reduced Yoddha to three men on the court. Jeeva’s super tackle on Siddharth with a block increased their lead to five points and he completed his High 5 in the process. Nitesh two successive tackle on Siddharth followed up by on Rohit gave Yoddha a 32-25 lead with three minutes left in the game. However, Abhishek helped U Mumba to reduce the deficit to four points with a two-point raid followed up by a tackle on Shrikant. Prashanth’s successful raid followed up by Nitesh tackle on Abhishek sealed the tie for Yoddha as Siddharth picked up the final point of the night. Yoddha qualified for the Eliminator 3 with a strong performance.
