Match 58 of Indian Super League 5, held on Dec 15 ,saw the Chennaiyin FC play against Delhi Dynamos FC.

Delhi ended their winless run in this season with a 3-1 win over the defending champions at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. This win helped Delhi move to the ninth spot and Chennai pushed back to the bottom of the table. Both the sides had an equal possession of 50%.

Delhi Dynamos FC won the toss and chose their side. As soon as the game started in the fifth minute Thapa’s free-kick found Carlos at the far post and the latter headed it towards the goal, but the keeper parried it away for a corner. In the 13th minute, Augusto tried to curl the ball towards the bottom right corner, but the keeper made a great save by diving towards his left. A couple of minutes later Delhi took the lead after Mihelic passed a ball to Sekar on the left and the latter played a superb ball to Daniel in the box. Daniel got his head to it and headed it past the keeper into the bottom right corner to give his side a 1-0 lead. In the 30th minute, Augusto sent a cross to Salom in the box and the latter headed it towards the goal, but the keeper saved it easily as it was straight at him. In the 38th minute, the hosts won a penalty after Dhot brought down Salom inside the box and Augusto stepped in to take the spot kick. Chennaiyin FC scored an equalizer with Augusto sending the ball in the bottom right corner. In the injury time, Thapa swung his shot from the corner, which was punched away by the keeper, but the rebound ball fell into the path of Augusto at the edge of the box. Augusto had an empty goal in front of him but ended up sailing his shot into the stands. Finally, both the sides entered the break on level terms.

Delhi secure their first win at the expense of Chennaiyin FC

As the second half started, Mihelic looked to curl the ball into the top corner from a free kick but his shot went wide of the post. In the 61st minute Germanpreet played Issac through on goal and the latter instead of passing the ball to Thoi, he took the shot himself towards the goal, but the keeper easily saved his shot as it lacked enough power. In the 78th minute, Delhi took the lead after Kaludjerovic lofted the ball into the path of Chhangte who then squared the ball to Bikramjit in the middle and the latter calmly slotted the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner. In the 82nd minute Delhi, double their lead after Chhangte’s corner found Sekar in the box and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, which took a deflection of Mailson and went into the back of the net. Finally, Delhi managed to secure their first win in this season over defending champions.
