ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-57-FC GOA VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC
Match 57 of Indian Super League 5, held on Dec 14 ,saw the North East United FC play against FC Goa.
Corominas brace helped Goa to defeat North East United by 5-1 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. This brace saw him joining Hume as the leading scorer in ISL with 28 goals. This win helped Goa move to the third spot. North East United had 51% possession than Goa’s 49%.
North East United FC won the toss and chose their side. As soon as the game, the hosts got the first chance after Boumous passed a ball to Jackichand on the left, but the latter’s shot went wide of the target. From then both the sides played an attacking style of football by creating many chances. In the 15th minute, Brandon played a superb through ball to Boumous and the latter sent a good cross inside the box, but Goa’s attackers were not able to get a touch on that to divert it to the goal. In the 21st minute Mascia played, a ball to Gallego from the edge of the box and the latter fired a shot towards the goal, but his shot went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute Goa started to celebrate after Boumous toe-poked the ball into the back of the net after he received the ball from Jackichand, but to his dismay, it was called an offside by the referee. From then both the sides played the ball in the midfield and entered the break without breaking the deadlock.
Goa move to third spot in the table at North East’s expense
As the second half started in the 54th minute Gallego played Tlang through on goal, but the latter’s shot was pushed away by the keeper to a corner. The resulting corner saw Pena handling the ball inside the box, but the referee gave a free kick to the home team instead of a penalty for the visitors. Goa took the lead in the 59th minute after Jackichand played a good pass to Boumous on the right and the latter played a beautiful cross to Corominas at the near post. Corominas calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net to score his ninth goal of this season. After 10 minutes Goa doubled their lead after Boumous played Bedia through on goal who had only the keeper to beat and the latter calmly lobbed the ball over the keeper to give his side a 2-0 lead. A couple of minutes later Goa took a 3-0 lead after Brandon sent a low cross from the edge of the box to Hugo Boumous and the latter tapped the ball into the back of the net. In the 84th minute, Goa scored their fourth goal through Corominas to equal Hume’s record of 28 goals in ISL. Coro and Boumous played a one-two pass and the latter played Coro through on goal and Corominas calmly slotted the ball into the net. In the last minute of regulation time, North East scored a consolation goal through Ogbeche as Gallego swung his corner from the left and found the head of Ogbeche who headed it towards the goal, but the keeper parried it away. However, the rebound fell into the feet of the captain and tapped it into the back of the net calmly. In the stoppage time, Goa scored another goal through Miguel to keep their 4-goal lead intact. Finally, Goa won the game by 5-1 and moved to the third spot in the table.
