ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-56-BENGALURU FC VS ATLETICO DE KOLKATA
Match 56 of Indian Super League 5, held on Dec 13 ,saw the Bengaluru FC play against Atletico De Kolkata.
Bengaluru FC kept their unbeaten run in this season with a 1-0 win over ATK at Sree Kanteerava Stadium. Paartalu’s header in the first half proved to be the difference between the two teams. Bengaluru FC had 53% possession than ATK’s 47%.

Bengaluru FC won the toss and chose their side. The host got the first chance of the game after Lewis from the left and passed the ball to Sunil Chhetri, but the latter’s shot went just wide of the target. From then both the sides played end-to-end football, which was a visual treat for the fans. In the 19th minute, Gerson laid a ball to Everton Santos in the middle and the latter smashed the ball towards the goal, but the keeper made an easy save as it was straight to him. In the 34th minute, Bengaluru dealt a huge blow as Rino Anto replaced Nish Kumar due to a Knee Injury. However, a couple of minutes later Bengaluru took the lead on courtesy of Erik Paartalu’s brilliant header. Rahul played a ball to Lewis and the latter sent a diagonal cross into the box, which found the head of Paartalu. Erik without committing any mistake headed the ball into the corner of the goal to give his side a 1-0 lead. Finally, Bengaluru managed to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.

As the second half started, Gurpreet punched out Lanzarote’s cross from a corner safely. In the 57th minute, ATK missed an excellent opportunity to score an equalizer. Lanzarote shot from a free kick found Balwant in the box who had only the keeper to beat, but ended up hitting the ball over the bar. In the 67th minute, Johnson lobbed the ball over the host’s defence, which found Balwant through on goal, but the latter’s shot went just wide of the post. ATK tried all sorts of tactics by introducing fresh legs into the game to score an equalizer, but a lot of offside halted them. Lack of well-known striker was the major problem for ATK as they were not able to get past the host’s defenders. In the end, Bengaluru managed to defeat ATK by 1-0 and kept their unbeaten run in this season intact.
