MATCH-96-HARYANA STEELERS VS BENGAL WARRIORS

Match 96 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Dec 5, saw the Haryana Steelers play against Bengal Warriors.

Goyat’s super raid in the last minute gave Haryana a thrilling 35-33 win over Bengal Warriors at Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi. Monu top scored in the game with 12 raid points while Maninder top-scored for Bengal with 11 raid points.

Haryana entered the break with a 8-point lead

Maninder started the proceedings of the game with a 2-point raid. Ramesh two successive raid and Mahesh touch point gave Bengal an early 6-3 lead. However, Haryana leveled the scores at seven points each on back of their strong defence led by Sunil. Haryana reduced Bengal to two players on the mat on courtesy of Monu, Naveen and Vikas successful raids. However, Bengal took, an 11-10 lead with Baldev super tackle on Vikas. In the 15th minute, Haryana inflicted an all-out on Bengal with Monu’s two-point raid and took a 15-11 lead. From then on Vikas added three more raid points in two raids, which included a two-point raid followed up by a tackle on Maninder. Haryana Steelers entered the break with a 19-11 lead.

Haryana edge Bengal through Monu’s heroics in dying seconds

As the second half started, Amit and Monu started the proceedings of the half with a successful raid. Bengal reduced Haryana to three men on the court on courtesy of two successful tackles on Naveen and Vikas followed up by Mahesh and Maninder’s successful raid. In the 28th minute, Bengal inflicted an all-out on Haryana with Maninder’s two-point raid and leveled the scores at 22 points each. From then on, both the sides exchanged points between them and the lead kept on swinging like a pendulum. Maninder completed his super 10 with a brilliant super raid and Bengal reduced Haryana to three players on courtesy of Ramesh two quick points. However, Haryana leveled the scores at 29 points each with Parveen’s super tackle on Maninder Singh. Haryana took a two-point lead with a minute to go on courtesy of Monu’s touch point followed up by Maninder’s unsuccessful raid. Bengal forced a do-or-die raid and Monu calmly stepped into the lobby and took three defenders along with him and gave his team a 35-31 lead. The game ended with Ran Singh’s successful raid. Finally, Haryana edge Bengal Warriors by 35-33.
