MATCH-44-BENGALURU FC VS FC PUNE CITY

Match 44 of Indian Super League 5, held on Nov 30 ,saw the Bengaluru FC  play against FC Pune City.

A late goal from Rahul helped Bengaluru to defeat Pune by 2-1 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. This win helped Bengaluru to extend their lead at the top of the table to five points. Bengaluru FC had 61% possession than Pune’s 39%.

An Entertaining Half

FC Pune City won the toss and chose their side. Bengaluru saw the ball for most part of the time in the initial 10 minutes. In the 11th minute, the hosts took the lead through Udanta as Delgado played a diagonal ball to Khabra on the right who then passed it back to Udanta. Udanta went past couple of defenders before unleashing a shot towards the far corner, which beat the keeper. A couple of minutes later Delgado played Chencho through on goal and the latter was on one-on-one with the keeper who tried to slot the ball into the near post, but the keeper made a terrific save with his legs. Pune scored an equalizer in the 15th minute on courtesy of an own goal from the hosts. Marcelo sided the ball to Stankovic and the latter drilled in a low cross, which found Robin on the right, but to the hosts misfortune it hit Rahul’s leg and rolled into the back of the net. In the 18th minute Xisco tried, his luck from a distance with a thunderous strike, but his shot went wide of the post. Three minutes later Xisco chipped in a ball from the left, which found Sunil in the box who was unmarked, but his header went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Erik tried his luck from a distance towards the bottom left corner, but the keeper parried it away from the danger. Both the side entered the break deadlocked at one goal each.

Bengaluru extend their lead at the top of the table

As the second half started in the 49th minute Marcelo passed a ball from the right which found Mills and the latter headed it towards the target,but the keeper saved his header easily as it was straight at him. Both the sides started to play the ball in the midfield and reduced the pace of the game. In the 88th minute Bengaluru took the lead through Rahul as Nishu got the ball from the half way line and played a diagonal ball to Khabra. Khabra sent a cross across the face of goal, which found Rahul who had an empty goal at his mercy and slotted the ball into the back of the net, which gave his, side a 2-1 lead. Finally, Bengaluru grabbed all three points from the game with this late goal.
