Match 42 of Indian Super League 5, held on Nov 28 ,saw the FC Goa  play against Atletico De Kolkata.

ATK and FC Goa played out an entertaining goalless draw at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata. FC Goa had 66% possession than ATK’s 34%.

FC Goa won the toss and chose their side. Both the teams started the game on a cautious note. The first real chance of the game came in the seventh minute when Jackichand rolled the ball to Seriton after he got the ball from Brandon. However, Seriton’s shot hit the side netting and the chance went begging. In the 13th minute, Goa missed another chance to take the lead when Ahmed delivered a diagonal ball at the far post, which found Mourtada, but his header hit the side netting. In the 30th minute, Lanzarote played a through ball to Jayesh and the latter drilled a low cross which found Everton who toe-poked towards the goal, but the keeper made a good save in the end. In the 36th minute Santos pounced on to a loose ball and chipped, it to Gerson in the box and the latter laid the ball to his captain Lanzarote. Lanzarote chested the ball before firing the shot towards the left corner which beat the keeper but ended up hitting the upright. At the stroke of the halftime, Brandon sent a delightful ball in the middle which found Corominas and the latter fired a shot towards the target, but the keeper saved his shot easily as it lacked enough power. Finally, both the side entered the break on level terms.

Both the sides share the spoils after a goalless draw

As the second half started in the 54th minute Santos and Lanzarote played between them before the latter passed the ball to Jayesh in the box. Jayesh unleashed a shot towards the target before taking a touch, but the keeper made a terrific save in the end to deny a goal for them. In the 60th minute, Lanzarote’s shot from the free kick found the head of Gerson in the box. However, Gerson’s header went just wide of the post. In the 66th minute, Goa was denied a penalty after Manvir’s shot was blocked by Bikey where the ball seemed to have hit his arm. From then on, both the sides had many chances to break the deadlock but lacked the final pass. At the stroke of end time, Corominas ran forward before passing the ball to Edu Bedia on the right but the latter miscued his shot which went for a corner. That proved to be the last piece of action from the game as both the sides settled for a goalless draw.
