Match 29 of Indian Super League 5, held on Nov 5 ,saw the Kerala Blasters FC play against Bengaluru FC.
Bengaluru FC prevailed over Kerala Blasters with a 2-1 win and consolidated the top spot at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Bengaluru FC had 56% possession than Kerala Blasters 44%.
Both teams were on level terms at the break
Bengaluru FC won the toss and chose their side. As soon as the game started the first chance came for the hosts when Prasanth drilled a low cross to Vineeth in the box, but his shot went over the crossbar. In the first 15 minutes, Bengaluru had a good possession of the ball and created a lot of chances. In the 17th minute, Bengaluru FC took the lead through their skipper. Miku played Chhetri through on goal before the latter went past Kerala defense and Chhetri calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net. In the 21st minute, Kerala got a chance to equalize when Vineeth drilled a low cross from the right to Doungel across the face of the goal, but Doungel’s shot hit the side netting in the end. In the 28th minute, Kerala won a penalty after Nish Kumar brought down Samad inside the box and Stojanovic stepped up to take the spot kick. Stojanovic blasted the ball into the roof of the net and brought his team back on level terms with the Visitors. In the 33rd minute Miku went past Kerala defenders inside the box and fired a shot towards the goal, which beat the keeper, but his shot went over the crossbar. Finally, both the sides went into the break on level terms.
Kerala suffers their first defeat of this season
As the second half started in the 52nd minute Chhetri played a superb ball to Miku in the box and the latter fired a shot towards the target, but his shot took a deflection of Pesic’s leg and went for a corner. In the 56th minute, Miku from the left fed the ball to Udanta who took a touch and fired a shot towards the target, which took a deflection of Lalruatthara and went in the hands of the keeper to deny a goal for them. In the 77th minute, Prasanth played a lovely through ball to Vineeth on the left and the latter was in two minds whether to go for glory or pass the ball, in the end, his pass went out of the play as it had enough venom. In the 81st minute, Bengaluru took the lead through an own goal. Miku from the byline squared the ball to Xisco Hernandez and the latter fired a shot towards the target, which was saved by the keeper. However, the rebound deflected of Krcmarevic and went into the empty net. Finally, Bengaluru won the game by 2-1 and handed Kerala their first defeat of this season.
