Match 27 of Indian Super League 5, held on Nov 3 ,saw the Chennaiyin FC play against Mumbai City FC.

Mumbai City FC registered their first away win over Chennai by 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The defending champions are now pushed to the last position in the league with just one point from six matches. Chennaiyin FC had 58% possession than Mumbai’s 42%

Sougou’s goal gave Mumbai lead at the halftime

Chennaiyin FC won the toss and chose their side. In the sixth minute Salom got the ball from Raphael from the right and fired a shot towards the target after some juggles, but his shot went over the post. In the initial 15 minutes, the hosts had a good possession of the ball in the play. In the 20th minute against the run of play, Mumbai took the lead through Sougou. Bastos sent a through ball to Sougou in the middle and fired a shot towards the target, which was blocked by the keeper. However, the rebound ball found Sougou who slotted the ball past the keeper into the far corner. In the 27th minute, Thapa sent a pass to Orlandi in the box, but the latter shot went wide of the post. In the 31st minute, Arnold took the ball from the midfield and sent a cross through the face of the goal, but the keeper saved his cross, as it was straight into the keeper gloves. At the stroke of halftime, Bose brought down Orlandi inside the box and appealed for Penalty, but the referee denied it and Mumbai headed into the break with a one-goal advantage.

Mumbai secured their first away win

As the second half started in the 48th minute Bastos played a ball to Sougou on the left and the latter tried to curl the ball past the keeper into the far corner, but the keeper saved his shot by diving towards his left. In the 57th minute, Issoko played a lovely through ball to Sougou in the middle, but Sougou’s shot was well intercepted by Eli Sabia. In the 62nd minute, Augusto squared the ball to Salom and his shot towards the target took a deflection of Mumbai defender and hit the right post. The rebound ball fell to Thoi who fired a shot towards the target, but Arminder blocked his shot. Both the sides kept creating chances, but their final third pass was not right so that the score remained the same until the end time. Finally, Mumbai won the game by 1-0 over the hosts and Chennai suffered their fifth loss in this season.
