Match 44 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Nov 2, saw the Tamil Thalaivas play against UP Yoddha.
Thalaivas secured a comprehensive 46-24 win over Yoddha on the back of an all-around performance at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Noida. Sukesh and Ajay top-scored in the game with nine raid points each ably supported by Manjeet who picked up his first High 5 of the season and ended the game with eight tackle points.
Thalaivas took a huge lead over the hosts at the break
Prashanth Kumar Rai started the proceedings of the game with an unsuccessful raid. Thalaivas raced to an early 4-1 lead in the second minute, but Narender’s super tackle on Jasvir brought down Yoddha’s deficit to just one point. In the sixth minute, Thalaivas inflicted an all-out with Pradap’s tackle on Prashanth and took a 10-4 lead. Thalaivas increased their lead to seven points with a superb tackle on Prashanth in the 10th minute. In the 13th minute, Sukesh Hegde came up with a brilliant super raid, which also inflicted an all-out on Yoddha and took Thalaivas lead to 21-7. Thalaivas kept on chipping points regularly and did not give any chance for the hosts to make a comeback. Finally, Thalaivas went into the break with a 26-11 lead.
Thalaivas secures a huge victory
As the second half started both the sides went into the defensive mood and played on the do-or-die raids. Yoddha started the half with two quick points and was forging a comeback, but Thalaivas kept their lead intact with sturdy defense. In the 28th minute, Manjeet completed his High 5 with a tackle on Prashanth, which made him the man with the most number of High 5’s in PKL. In the 30th minute, Jeeva came up with another super tackle on Jasvir and reduce the deficit to 16 points. Amit Hooda completed his High 5 in the 32nd minute with an ankle hold on Rohit and gave Thalaivas a 34-18 lead. In the 38th minute, Yoddha were left with a solitary player on the mat after Ajay’s two-point raid. Thalaivas inflicted third all-out on the hosts with Prashanth’s unsuccessful raid. Thakur finished the game with a two-point raid in the last raid of the game. This was Thalaivas biggest victory in terms of margin in PKL.
