Match 22 of Indian Super League 5, held on Oct 29 ,saw the Jamshedpur FC play against Kerala Blasters FC.

Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. David James substitution in the last 20 minutes got his team back in the game as Doungel produced two assists after they were trailing the hosts by two goals. Kerala Blasters had 51% possession than Jamshedpur’s 49%.

Cahill and Soosairaj’s goal gave the hosts lead at the half time

Jamshedpur FC won the toss and chose their side. Jamshedpur FC was off to a flying start as their iconic signing Tim Cahill scored his First Hero ISL Goal with a thunderous header. Sergio Cidoncha curled in a superb cross from the right where Cahill headed past the keeper, which found the back of the net. In the 20th minute, Cahill sent a cross from the edge of the box, which found Soosairaj on the left, but his shot went over the crossbar. In the 31st minute, the hosts doubled their lead as Cidoncha’s throw in from the left found Soosairaj who fired a shot towards the bottom corner past the diving keeper and gave his team a 2-0 lead. At the stroke of the halftime, Soosairaj whipped in a superb cross from the left, which found Cidoncha, but his header went wide of the post. Finally, the hosts entered the break with a two-goal advantage.

Late strikes help Kerala to share the spoils with the hosts

As the second half started in the 51st minute Samad and Poplatnik played some quick passes between them before Poplatnik fired a shot towards the goal from the edge of the box, but his shot went over the crossbar. After five minutes, Kerala earned a penalty after Balmuchu brought down Stojanovic inside the box and Stojanovic stepped in to take the spot kick. However, the penalty was saved brilliantly by diving Subrata Paul. In the 71st minute, Kerala pulled one goal back on courtesy of Doungel’s superb assist. Yumnam’s clearance found Doungel who then sent a superb cross to Stojanovic and the latter without doing any mistake slotted the ball into the back of the net. At the stroke of the end-time, Kerala equalized once again through Doungel’s assist. Doungel got the ball on his left and squared it back to Vineeth who tapped it into the near post past the keeper with ease. In the added time, Kerala had a superb chance to score the winning goal after Kali played Stojanovic through on goal, but his shot sailed it into the stands. Finally, both the sides settled for a point each after an outstanding performance by Kerala in the last 20 minutes of the game.
