ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-21-FC GOA VS FC PUNE CITY
Match 21 of Indian Super League 5, held on Oct 28 ,saw the FC Goa play against FC Pune City.
FC Goa regained their top spot in this season after they defeated Pune City by 4-2 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. The match saw six goal, two red cards and a penalty saved which made the match more entertaining. FC Goa had 62% possession than Pune City’s 38%.
FC Pune City won the toss and chose their side. As soon as the game started, the hosts took the lead in the fifth minute itself as Ahmed Jahouh sent a long ball over the Pune back line and Corominas came to end of it and placed the ball in the bottom left corner to give his team a 1-0 lead. A couple of minutes later Pune City pulled one goal back as Robin got to the end of Stankovic’s diagonal ball and squared it to Marcelo inside the box. Marcelo without doing any mistake calmly slotted the ball into the top corner past the keeper. In the 12th minute, Goa took the lead as Boumous played a ball to Corominas and then charged into the box. Corominas then sent an inch-perfect cross to Boumous from the right and the latter headed it past the keeper to give his team a 2-1 lead. In the 20th minute, the hosts double their lead as Seriton played a lovely through ball to Corominas who got behind Pune’s defense and squared the ball to Jackichand who slotted the ball into the empty net. A couple of minutes later Pune pulled one goal back as Alfaro cuts past a Goa defender inside the box and smashed the ball towards the target beating the keeper which found the side netting of the far post. In the 33rd minute, Jackichand played a little one-two with Ahmed who then tried his luck from a distance, but the keeper saved his shot by punching it over the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Goa doubled, their lead once again as Corominas scored his sixth goal in this season. Gurtej blocked Corominas shot after he received a pass from Jackichand, but Corominas quickly reacted and smashed the rebound ball past the keeper. In the 42nd minute Jackichand had, a shy at goal from inside the box, but Vishal Kaith jumped and saved it from danger. At the stroke of the halftime Stankovic played, a diagonal ball to Marcelo on the left and the latter fired a shot towards the target, but his shot went over the crossbar. Finally, Goa entered the break with a 4-2 lead.

As the second half started in the next minute, Marcelo played Alfaro with a superb backheel and he was through on goal, but the keeper saved his shot with ease at the near post. In the 54th minute, Pune got a penalty after Chinglensana brought Alfaro inside the box and Alfaro stepped up to take the spot kick. However, Nawaz made a brilliant save to deny a goal for Alfaro though his shot had enough venom. In the 61st minute Boumous sent a pass to Corominas in the middle and drilled a low shot at the far corner with the keeper coming off his line, but Mehta pulled off a blinder by making a last-minute goal-line clearance. In the 84th minute Corominas pounced on to a long ball clearance from the Pune defenders and tried to chip the ball towards the target, but his shot hit the side netting. A couple of minutes later Carlos was sent off the pitch after he attempted a rash challenge on Seriton. At the stroke of end time, Corominas was also given marching orders for his sliding challenge against Stankovic. Finally, Goa won the game and reclaimed their top spot in the table.
