ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-20-MUMBAI CITY FC VS DELHI DYNAMOS FC
Match 20 of Indian Super League 5, held on Oct 27 ,saw the Mumbai City FC play against Delhi Dynamos FC.
Mumbai City FC picked up all-important three points with a 2-0 victory over Delhi Dynamos FC at the Mumbai Football Arena. Delhi Dynamos FC had 52% possession than Mumbai City’s 48%.
Sougou’s strike gave Mumbai 1-0 lead at the break
Mumbai City FC won the toss and chose their side. As soon as the game started, Chhangte floated a ball across the face of the goal where Goian’s attempted clearance of it found Romeo Fernandes in the box. Romeo went for the glory shot, but his efforts went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute Kaludjerovic got to the end of Mihelic’s pass and went past couple of defenders before firing a shot towards the target, but the keeper was in a good position to make a fine save. In the 30th minute, the home team took the lead as Rafael Bastos played a long ball to Arnold on the right. Arnold then squared the ball to Sougou who got ahead and slotted the ball into the net past the diving keeper. A couple of minutes later Sougou cuts two defenders and tried to curl the ball into the far post, but the keeper punched it away from danger. Arnold sent a lovely outside-of-the-boot cross to Sougou in the middle, but the latter’s shot went wide of the post. Finally, the home side went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Delhi Dynamos remain winless
As the second half started in the 49th minute, Mumbai earned a penalty after Rana brought down Issoko inside the box and Rafael Bastos stepped up to take the spot kick. Bastos missed the penalty as his shot went wide of the post and wasted a good chance to double the lead. In the 59th minute Kaludjerovic tried, his luck from a distance, but his shot went over the crossbar by inches. After 5 minutes Francisco’s clearance found Arnold in the middle who tried to slot into the net, but his shot went over the roof of the net. In the 75th minute Romeo ran from the left and fired a shot towards the near post, but Ravi Kumar made a good save by diving towards his right. A couple of minutes later Mumbai doubled their lead as Bastos played a lovely through ball to Arnold and slotted the ball into the net past the outrushing keeper to give his team a 2-0 lead. At the stroke of the end time, Pritam sent a cross from the byline, which found Romeo at the far post who fired a shot towards the goal, but Ravi Kumar once again saved his shot by diving towards his right. Finally, Mumbai won the game comfortably by scoring goals on ether half and grabbed all three points from the game.
