ISL-SEASON 5-MATCH-18-NORTH EAST UNITED FC VS JAMSHEDPUR FC
Match 18 of Indian Super League 5, held on Oct 25 ,saw the Jamshedpur FC play against North East United FC.
North East United Played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Jamshedpur FC despite being 10 men for the most part of the game at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. Jamshedpur FC had 60% possession than North East United’s 40%.
North East United go into the break with a one goal advantage
Jamshedpur FC won the toss and chose their side. The first shot of the game came in the 13th minute when Gallego delivered a low cross in the middle, which found Ogbeche, and the latter’s effort went high and wide of the post. The game in the first 20 minutes was slow as neither of the teams created any chances. In the next minute, the home side took the lead as Gallego passed the ball to Ogbeche who went past couple of defenders and toe-poked the ball into the net past the keeper. A couple of minutes later Carlos Calvo’s cross hit the crossbar and saved and denied an equalizer for the visitors. In the 28th minute Gallego pass found Ogbeche and had a good chance to double the lead, but his shot went wide of the target. In the added time, Tlang fired a shot from the right towards the far post, but the keeper saved it by diving towards his right. In the closing minutes of the half, Mislav komorski was given away the marching orders by the Referee as he brought down Carlos Calvo in the middle. Finally, the hosts went into the break with a one-goal advantage and one man down.
Points shared and both teams kept their unbeaten run intact
As the second half started in the 49th minute, Jamshedpur scored an equalizer, as the hosts did not clear a long ball from the left. Morgado who outsmarted the defender with a high jump and sent a cross into the box, which found Farukh who smashed it into the net giving no chance to the keeper. In the 58th minute, the keeper saved Carlos Calvo shot from the free kick towards the target easily. In the 79th, minute Michael was through on goal on the left inside the box and fired a shot towards the target, but the keeper saved his shot as it lacked power. However, the rebound ball found Cahill who tried to hit the target, but that was also saved by the keeper despite being offside. In the 90th minute, Farukh played a ball to Arques who smashed it towards the goal, which took a deflection of a defender and went just wide of the post. Finally, North East drew with Jamshedpur by 1-1 despite being a man down to share the spoils.
