MATCH-4- TAMIL THALAIVAS VS UP YODDHA

Match 4 of Pro Kabaddi League season 6, held on Oct 8, saw the Tamil Thalaivas play against UP Yoddha.

Yoddha held their nerves despite Thalaivas fightback in the second half and defeated the hosts by 37-32 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Ajay Thakur picked up his second consecutive super 10 of this season and Manjeet became the first player to reach 250 tackle points in Pro Kabaddi.

Yoddha battle it out in first half

Ajay and Prashanth Kumar started the proceedings for their respective teams with an empty raid. Yoddha picked up their first point by tackling Jasvir out of the mat. Yoddha sent out Thalaivas star riders out of the mat with some good defensive techniques and the hosts were on the verge of an all-out. Yoddha inflicted first all-out of the night on the hosts with Atul’s unsuccessful raid with the score line 10-0. Thalaivas picked up their first point of the game in the 13th minute by trapping Prashant inside the mat. However, Shrikant sent Thakur out of the mat and Prashanth’s two raid points increased Yoddha’s lead to 13 points with a minute left in the half. Finally, Yoddha entered the break with an unassailable lead of 18-4 against the hosts.

Yoddha wins a thriller despite Thalaivas fightback

As the second half started, Yoddha inflicted another all-out on the hosts after Hooda’s unsuccessful raid with the scoreline reading 22-5. Atul’s six successful raids on a trot gave the hosts some hope as they started to reduce the deficit. Manjeet’s block on Rishank and Ajay’s two raid points got Yoddha all-out in the 30th minute with a score 19-27. Yoddha then started to play slowly by keeping the deficit high. Ajay’s presence of mind and his successful raids reduced their deficit to 7 with four minutes left in the game. Thalaivas inflicted another all-out on Yoddha in the 38th minute with the scoreline 30-34. Once Yoddha came back Narender blocked Ajay with double ankle hold to end the hosts hope of winning the contest. Finally, Yoddha won a close contest by 37-32 despite Thakur’s super 10 and Atul’s 7 points.
