Match 6 of Indian Super League 5, held on Oct 4 ,saw the Atletico De Kolkata play against North East United FC.

North East United defeated ATK by 1-0 by scoring a late goal in the game at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. North East had 67% possession than ATK’s 33%.

A Goalless half

North East United won the toss and chose their side. Both the sides were not able to create chances in the first 15 minutes, as both side players have not hit the shots on target. In the 20th minute, Gallego chipped in a ball to Ogbeche who then headed it towards the goal, but his shot went wide of the post. In the 32nd minute, Sena Ralte was sent off for his second yellow card in the game following a tackle on Kadam. ATK was reduced to 10 men on the field, soon after the visitors got a terrific chance to score a goal when Tlang delivered a superb ball in the middle of the box. However, Ogbeche was not able to meet the cross as Johnson cleared the ball for a goal kick. At the stroke of half-time Lanzarote tried to curl, the ball into the top corner from outside the box, but Rehenesh was in a good position to punch it away. Finally both the teams headed into the break goalless.

Borge’s last minute goal salvages 3 points for North East

As the second half started in the 52nd minute, Noussair floated the ball from his free kick, which found Santos who then flicked it towards the post. Lanzarote came to end of it and unleashed a shot towards the goal, but Rehenesh did well to parry it away. In the 68th minute, Lanzarote whipped in a superb ball from his free-kick and found Johnson inside the penalty area. However, his resulting shot went wide of the post by inches. In the 82nd minute, Gallego drilled in a low ball at the far post, trying to find Reagan, but Johnson made a superb block to clear it away. At the stroke of the end, time North East took the lead after Galego’s shot from the corner found Borges in the middle. He then headed the ball past the diving keeper to give his team a 1-0 lead. Finally, North East inflicted another defeat to ATK at their home in the last moment and ended their winless streak of nine matches in ISL.
