SEMIFINAL 1 -2nd Leg of Indian Super League 4, held on Mar 11 ,saw the Bengaluru FC play against FC Pune City.

Bengaluru FC defeated FC Pune City by 3-1 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru and stormed into the finals of the Hero ISL 2017-18. Sunil Chhetri’s hat-trick helped them to win the game in a superb fashion. On the other hand, Lucca scored a consolation goal for Pune. Pune had 56% possession than Bengaluru’s 44%.

Bengaluru went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

FC Pune City won the toss and chose their side. The first chance of the game went for the hosts where Udanta played a good ball at the far post which found Chhetri who managed to get a touch on it by stretching his leg, but his shot went wide of the target. In the next minute, Pune fashioned a chance as Alfaro played a ball to Carlos in the box and fired a shot towards the goal, but Gurpreet’s reflexes ensured that the ball went for a corner in the end. In the 13th minute, Stankovic had a shy on goal from a distance, but Gurpreet made a superb save by diving to his left. A couple of minutes later the hosts took the lead as Chhetri played a ball to Udanta on the right who went near the box and chipped in a cross at the far post, where Chhetri leaped high and headed it towards the goal. In the 42nd minute, Erik Paartalu’s shot from the corner found Chhetri in the middle, who leaped and headed it towards the goal, but his header went wide of the far post. Finally, Bengaluru went into the break with a one-goal advantage.

Chhetri’s hat-trick seals a place for Bengaluru in the finals

As the second half started in the 51st minute Miku laid a ball to Udanta who then aimed his shot towards the far post, but his shot went wide of the post by inches. In the 64th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty after Sarthak Golui brought down Chhetri at the byline. Bengaluru captain himself stepped up to take the spot-kick and didn’t do any mistake as he kept running in and sent Kaith to his left and he chipped the ball in the center to give his team a 2-0 lead. In the 69th minute, Dimas corner found Bheke in the middle who then fired a shot towards the goal, but his shot went over the crossbar. A couple of minutes later Chhetri went for the glory on his own from near the box, but Kaith saved it with his right hand by diving to his left. In the 82nd minute, Pune pulled one back a goal from Lucca’s free-kick from outside the box and curled his shot superbly into the top corner giving the keeper no chance to save it. In the 89th minute, Chhetri completed his hat-trick after he came to an end of Delgado’s long ball and slotted the ball into the back of the net with ease. Finally, that proved to be the last chance of the game and Bengaluru booked a place in the final on courtesy of Chhetri’s hat-trick.
