ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-81-ATLETICO DE KOLKATA VS DELHI DYNAMOS FC
Match 81 of Indian Super League 4, held on Feb 24 ,saw the Delhi Dynamos FC play against Atletico De Kolkata.
Delhi Dynamos leapfrogged ATK by 4-3 in an entertaining encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. For ATK goals were scored by Sibongakonke and Keane who netted twice, on the other hand, Delhi scored through Seityasen. Mirabaje and Uche who netted twice. Delhi had 57% possession than ATK’s 43%.
Both teams went into the break on level terms
ATK won the toss and chose their side. In the first initial 20 minutes of the game, both the side were playing the ball in the midfield without attacking the ball in the final third. In the 22nd minute, Delhi took the lead after Seityasen floated a ball to Chhangte at the far post, but Ali intercepted it by stretching his foot. However, he ended up deflecting the ball into the path of Uche who easily slotted the ball past the keeper to give his team a 1-0 lead.
In the 37th minute, ATK scored an equalizer where Mbatha received the ball on the right inside the box who tried to pass the ball to Keane in the middle, but it got deflected of Cichero’s thigh and went to hit the side of the net. In the 43rd minute, Mbatha played a ball to Keane in the middle who had only the keeper to beat, but his shot went wide of the post and missed a great opportunity and both the teams went into the break on level terms.
Delhi overcome ATK in a 7 goal thriller
As the second half started in the 52nd minute ATK took the lead from a free-kick where Keane placed his shot into the top corner from the edge of the box and didn’t give any chance for the keeper to make a save.ATK couple of Minutes later Keane almost got his second after he received a ball near the box and fired a shot towards the target as the keeper was off his lines, but to his dismay, his shot hit the crossbar. After 3 minutes ATK double their lead after Mbatha made a superb run towards the goal and his first-time shot was saved by the keeper, but the rebound ball fell into the path of Keane who easily tapped it into the back of the net.
In the 69th minute, Delhi scored their 2nd goal as Mirabaje played Seityasen through on the right who then fed the ball to Uche. However, the latter easily tapped it home for the hosts. A couple of minutes later Delhi scored an equalizer after Arana played a ball forward to Chhangte and he passed the ball to Seityasen inside the box. He had an empty goal in front of him as the keeper was completely out of his position and he tapped the ball into the back of the net with ease.
In the 80th minute, Keane played a ball to Bipin in the middle, but his shot was saved by Xabier and the ball went away for a corner. In the 87th minute Keane cut back on the left and fired a shot towards the target, but Xabier stood tall and blocked his shot away for a corner. In the added time Delhi scored a winner after Arana played Uche through on goal who then rolled a perfect ball for Mirabaje, who placed into the bottom corner. Finally, Delhi edged ATK by 4-3 in a superb encounter.
