ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-80-CHENNAIYIN FC VS KERALA BLASTERS FC
Match 80 of Indian Super League 4, held on Feb 23 ,saw the Chennaiyin FC play against Kerala Blasters FC.
Chennaiyin FC drew with Kerala Blasters FC by 0-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Kerala missed the spot kick which proved to be costly for the hosts as their qualification to playoffs now look bleak. Chennaiyin had 54% possession than Kerala’s 46%.
Kerala Blasters FC won the toss and chose their side. In the 4th minute, the first chance of the game went to the visitors where Mihelic played a ball into the feet of Augusto who then fired a shot towards the goal, but the keeper saved it with ease as it was straight at him.
In the 11th minute Jackichand latched onto a loose ball and tried to curl the ball towards the goal, but the keeper made a comfortable save in the end to deny a goal for the hosts. A couple of minutes later Berbatov passed a ball to Pekuson who tried his luck towards the goal from a distance, but Karanjit made a good save but was not able to get hold of the ball. The rebound ball fell into the path of Vineeth, but his swing made him miss the ball completely.
In the 31st minute, Jackichand swung a ball into the middle of the box from a corner which got deflected into the path of Berbatov. He then blasted his first-time volley towards the goal, but Ganesh managed to get his head on the ball and directed it towards another corner. At the stroke of the halftime, Mihelic passed a lovely ball to Jeje in the middle who took a touch and tried to slot it into the far corner, but his shot went wide of the target. Finally, both the teams went into the break goalless.

As the second half started in the 52nd minute the hosts were awarded a penalty after Jerry brought down Baldvinsson inside the box and Pekuson stepped up to take the spot-kick. However, the penalty was saved by the keeper diving to the correct side and it was a weak shot by Pekuson.
In the 77th minute Jackichand whipped in across to Gudjon who fired a shot towards the goal without taking a touch towards the far corner, but Karanjit made a terrific save. The rebound ball fell into the path of Vineeth who had an empty goal in front of him, but the ball was taken away from him as he missed it. In the next minute, Augusto sent in a low cross to Gavilan at the edge of the box who fired a shot towards the bottom right corner, but Rachubka made a reflex save to deny a goal for the visitors.
In the 82nd minute Brown laid a header off to Gudjon in the middle who then fired a shot towards the target with more power, but the keeper parried it away over the crossbar. In the added time Nelson unleashed a shot towards the goal, but the keeper managed to get his fingertips on the shot which hits the upright in the end. Finally, the south Indian derby ended in a goalless draw.
