ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-77-ATLETICO DE KOLKATA VS MUMBAI CITY FC
Match 77 of Indian Super League 4, held on Feb 18 ,saw the Mumbai City FC play against Atletico De Kolkata.
Mumbai City FC defeated ATK by 2-1 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Rozario and Jorda scored a goal on either half for Mumbai, on the other hand, Bipin scores a goal for the hosts in the 2nd half.ATK had 54% possession than Mumbai’s 46%.
Mumbai went into the break with a 1-0 lead
Mumbai City FC won the toss and chose their side. In the 6th minute Bipin cut the ball from the byline and tried to square the ball, but the keeper collected it safely in the end. In the 14th minute, Emana squared the ball to Raju Gaikwad in the middle ho then volleyed his shot towards the target, but it hit the crossbar and went for a goal-kick.
In the 18th minute Emana latched onto a loose ball and fired a shot towards the goal from outside the box, but his shot was saved by the keeper as it was straight towards him. In the 22nd minute, Rane played a lovely through ball to Thomas inside the box and he had a shy at goal, but his shot hit Arminder and went for a corner.
In the 32nd minute, Mumbai took the lead from a free kick which was taken by Rozario. He powered his shot towards the target where his shot went past the keeper at the far post and gave his team a 1-0 lead. After 5 minutes Emana tried to curl the ball towards the goal from a free-kick, but his shot was pushed away for a corner by ATK’s keeper. Finally, Mumbai went into the break with a 1 goal advantage.
Mumbai kept their playoff hopes alive with this win
As the second half started the hosts scored an equalizer in just 2 minutes from the restart after Thomas sent a lovely through ball to Bipin and he slotted it past the keeper with his left foot to bring his team back on level terms.
In the 53rd minute, Mumbai restored their lead as Sanju delivered a ball from the left which found Jorda inside the box who then headed it towards the far post corner to give his team a 2-1 lead.
In the 79th minute, Emana blasted the ball from outside the box towards the goal at the far post, but Soram Poirei made a good save by diving low. In the added time Ryan Taylor looked to place his shot at the near post from a free kick, but his shot hit the crossbar and went away from danger. Finally, Mumbai won the game by 2-1 and kept their playoffs hopes alive.
