ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-75-KERALA BLASTERS FC VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC
Match 75 of Indian Super League 4, held on Feb 17, saw the Kerala Blasters FC play against North East United FC.
Kerala Blasters defeated North East United FC by 1-0 and kept their chances of qualifying for the playoffs alive at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. Wes Brown’s header was enough for Kerala to grab all-important 3 points from the game. North East had 53% possession than Kerala’s 47%.
Kerala head into the break with a 1-0 lead
North East United FC won the toss and chose their side. In the 8th minute, North East got the first chance of the game when Ralte passed a ball to Cezario and he had a shy at goal from 30 yards outside the box, but his hot skied high into the stands. A couple of minutes later Sema squared the ball to Cezario in the middle, but his shot was saved by the keeper with ease as it lacked power. In the 20th minute, the hosts would have conceded a goal due to their defensive lapses where Nirmal’s attempted clearance ended up hitting the crossbar. The rebound ball fell into Vineeth’s path, but his shot was finally saved by Rehenesh as he didn’t get good contact with the ball.
In the 28th minute, Kerala took the lead from Jackichand’s corner as his shot found Brown in the middle who then headed the ball past the keeper to score his first Hero ISL goal. In the 38th minute Ralte whipped in a cross from the right which found Cezario at the near post, but he wasn’t able to direct his header towards the goal. A couple of minutes later Jackichand’s clearance found Ralte inside the middle and he tried to direct it towards the near post, but he missed the target by inches.
At the stroke of the halftime Sema played Cezario through on goal who tried to place the ball at the near post, but his shot was saved by Rachubka to deny an equalizer for them. Finally, Kerala went into the break with a 1 goal advantage.

As the second half started in the 53rd minute the hosts got a chance after the ball got deflected of Sema and went to Mosquera who then headed it towards the target, but it was easily saved by the keeper as it was straight to him. In the 72nd minute Ralte fire a shot from outside the box which hit the crossbar and came back to him.
In his second attempt, he tried to direct it towards the target, but it went straight to Rachubka who collected it with ease as it lacked power. After 6 minutes Berbatov laid off a ball to Baldvinsson inside the box who then tried to slot the ball into the back of the net, but Rehenesh made a good save in the end with his legs.
In the 86th minute, Fanai sent a lovely ball to Mosquera inside the box, but he was not able to keep his shot on target as Jhingan was in front of him. Finally, Kerala won the game and scored vital 3 points from the game.
