ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-60-ATLETICO DE KOLKATA VS JAMSHEDPUR FC
Match 60 of Indian Super League 4, held on Jan 28, saw the Atletico De Kolkata play against Jamshedpur FC.
Jamshedpur FC defeated ATK by 1-0 at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Trindade Goncalves’s spot-kick was enough for the visitors to grab maximum points from the save.ATK had 51% possession than Jamshedpur’s 49%.
ATK won the toss and chose their side. Both teams made a cautious start to the game and no chances were created as they were trying to win the possession. In the 12th minute, Goncalves fired a shot from outside the box, but it went wide off the top corner by inches. In the 18th minute, Azuka got on the end of Bikash Jairu’s corner who headed it, but he failed to direct it towards the target. In the 25th minute Jerry tried his luck from a distance, but he failed to keep his shot down as it sailed into the stands.
3 minutes later Jayesh fired a low shot from outside the box, but it was easily saved by Paul as it lacked power. In the 30th minute Bikash skipped a couple of defenders and passed the ball to Azuka who went for a shot, but it went wide of the post by inches. In the 40th minute Patterson made a good run and got on the end of Cotterill’s corner and had a go, but the keeper did well to make a brilliant save in the end to deny a goal.
At the stroke of the halftime, Wellington had a go from outside the box which was brilliantly saved by Debjit in the end. The rebound ball fell to Azuka, but he was adjudged offside by the officials. That proved to be the last chance of the first half as both the teams went into the break goalless.
Goncalves’s spot kick helps Jamshedpur to fetch 3 points from the game
As the second half started Goncalves came close to open the account for the visitors after getting on to the end of Jerry’s cross. He unleashed a shot towards the goal, but it was denied by the upright in the end. In the 56th minute Anas won the header after Jerry’s free-kick from the right came into his path, but his shot went wide off the post.5 minutes later Patterson fired a shot towards the goal from a distance, but the keeper made a save with ease as it locked power behind it.
In the 64th minute, the visitors won a penalty after Hitesh brought down Goncalves inside the box. Goncalves stepped up for the kick and didn’t do any mistake as he tapped it home by sending the keeper in the wrong way. In the 71st minute David Cotterill stepped up to take a free-kick from a good area, but his shot went wide off the post by inches.11 minutes later Cotterill sent a cross towards the far post which found the head of Patterson who rose above Souvik and headed it towards the goal, but it went wide off the post.
Finally, Jamshedpur won the game by 1-0 and the spot kick from Goncalves proved to be the difference between the two sides. This was ATK’s 3rd successive loss in a row and their chances for qualifying for the playoffs look bleak now.
