ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-57-BENGALURU FC VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC
Match 57 of Indian Super League 4, held on Jan 26 ,saw the Bengaluru FC play against North East United FC.
Bengaluru FC edged North East United FC by 2-1 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Marcinho canceled out the goal scored from Juanan in the first half. But Sunil netted the winner in the second half to grab maximum points from the game. North East had 53% possession than Bengaluru’s 47%.
Both teams went into the break on level terms
North East won the toss and chose their side. In the 3rd minute, the visitors got the first chance from Marcinho’s free-kick from the left who curls it at the near post. Cezario got to its end and unleashed a shot towards the goal, but it went over the cross-bar.
In the 13th minute, Danilo Lopes made a brilliant run towards the box and put in a cross to Doungel who then fired a shot towards the post, but failed to get a proper connection. In the next minute, the hosts got the breakthrough from Edu Garcia’s free-kick. He lofted the ball into the box where Juanan leaped the highest to flick the ball past the keeper with his header.2 minutes later Bengaluru could have doubled their lead after Subhasish who cut back the pass from Miku into the box and Chhetri came to one of its ends. He then fired a shot from his left foot, but the keeper made a save by diving to his left. In the 33rd minute, Sambinha passed the ball to Doungel near the box who then curled his shot towards the goal by skipping past couple of defenders, but Gurpreet made a stunning save to deny them an equalizer. After 3 minutes Rodrigues put Edu Garcia through on goal with a brilliant pass, he then went for a shot towards the goal with his out foot, but it went over the cross-bar as he didn’t time it well.
North East was awarded a penalty in the 3rd minute of the added time after Doungel’s attempted cut-back from inside the box was adjudged to have been handled by Subhasish. Marcinho steeped up and fired it towards the top right corner to score an equalizer for his team. Both teams went into the break on level terms.
Bengaluru reach the summit spot
As the second half started it took just six minutes for the hosts to get into the lead on courtesy of Sunil Chhetri. Khabra sent a beautiful cross inside the box and Sambinha was not able to clear the ball which bounced off Nirmal and found Sunil’s feet. He fired a shot past the keeper from the far post to give his team a 2-0 lead.
In the 59th minute, Marcinho’s kick from the corner from the right found Nirmal in the middle who had a free-header, but he missed it as the ball bounced off his shoulder and went for a goal-kick. In the 81st minute, Nirmal sent a beautiful cross inside the box to Mosquera who then managed to head it towards the target, but it went over the crossbar.In the added time Borges put Mosquera through the goal at the near post who unleashed a shot towards the goal, but Gurpreet pushed it away for a corner.
Finally, Bengaluru won the game by 2-1 and moved to the tops spot on the table.
