Match 55 of Indian Super League 4, held on Jan 24, saw the FC Pune City play against Jamshedpur FC.

FC Pune City edged past Jamshedpur FC by 2-1 in a thrilling encounter at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune. Gurtej Singh canceled out Wellington Priori’s goal in the second half and Alfaro’s goal ensured maximum points for the hosts. Pune City had 57% possession than Jamshedpur’s 47%.

Priori’s strike helped the visitors to go into the break with a 1-0 lead

FC Pune City won the toss and chose their side. In the 4th minute, Farukh fired a shot towards the goal from a distance, but Vishal made a good save to deny a goal for the visitors. In the 13th minute, Adil Khan had a good opportunity to break the deadlock after he was unmarked at the far post, but his shot went into the stands and wasted a good chance. In the 25th minute, Marcelo went to go straight for a goal from a corner to catch the keeper off-guard, but Paul made an easy save by staying alert.

After 4 minutes Jamshedpur broke the deadlock finally after Wellington was played through on goal and he did well to hold off the pressure from Sahil. Sahil then crashed with outrushing Vishal who came forward out of his area to intercept, but Priori made no mistake and slotted the ball into the back of the net.

In the 36th minute, Goncalves made a superb run near the right flank and Azuka got to the end of his cross. He then fired a shot from the spot but missed the target by a whisker. At the stroke of the half-time Alfaro had an empty goal on his way, but he failed to find the back of the net, Marcelo played the ball to Alfaro after the keeper came out of his line, but he took some time to take his shot. But Raju who stood between the goal and Alfaro made a heroic block to deny an equalizer for the hosts. Finally, Jamshedpur went into the break with a 1 goal advantage.

As the second half started Alfaro put Marcelo through on goal who then fired a shot towards the goal. But his shot hit the keeper who jumped and collected the ball on the second attempt. In the 66th minute, Pune scored an equalizer from Marcelo’s corner. His shot found the head of Gurtej in the middle, who then jumped and headed it down which bounced over the keeper and brought his team back to level terms.

It took just 4 minutes for the hosts to take lead for the first time in the game and it was once again Marcelo’s assist. Marcelo cut back from the right and passed to Alfaro who then slotted it past the Keeper with ease. In the 71st minute, Wellington drilled a low shot towards the goal, but the keeper did well to push it away from danger. The rebound ball found Sameehg in the middle, but his shot got deflected and went for a corner.

In the 90th minute, a throw from Jamshedpur found Priori in the middle who then tried to poke it towards the goal, but the ball went to Azuka as he didn’t time it well. Azuka then fired a shot towards the goal, but Adil Khan cleared it from the line to deny an equalizer for the visitors. Finally, Pune defeated Jamshedpur by 2-1 and climbed to the top spot in the table.
