ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-39-MUMBAI CITY FC VS JAMSHEDPUR FC
Match 39 of Indian Super League 4, held on Jan 5 ,saw the Mumbai City FC play against Jamshedpur FC.
Jamshedpur FC drew with Mumbai City FC by 2-2 in an entertaining encounter at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. Izu Azuka and Thiago both players scored 2 goals for their respective teams and this made Mumbai move to the 4th spot in the table, on the other hand, Jamshedpur remained at 6th position. Mumbai City had 51% possession than Jamshedpur’s 49%.
Azuka helped the hosts to go into the break with a 2-1 advantage
Mumbai City won the toss and chose their side. As the match started players felt difficult while passing the ball, as the outfield was big sluggish. In the 43rd minute, Jamshedpur scored an equalizer after Jerry whipped in a cross to Belfort, whose shot was then blocked comfortably by Wadoo. But the deflection fell into the path of Azuka, who then slotted it towards the target with ease. In the added time the hosts took the lead after Jerry whipped in a cross to Azuka’s feet, who then fired a shot past the keeper towards the near post. This helped the hosts to go into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Thiago’s brace in the end helped his team to share points with the hosts
As the 2nd half Jamshedpur started to initiate series of attacks, which made the Mumbai to chase the ball to get back the possession and were running all around the field. In the 66th minute a deflected ball fell into the path of Everton inside the box, he then went for an overhead kick towards the goal, but it went just above the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Thiago scored his 2nd goal of the night and equalized the score with his brilliance. Everton played a superb cross to Thiago in the middle from the right, Thiago then placed his shot towards the right of the keeper and found the back of the net, which brought his team back into the game. In the 82nd minute, Emana fired a shot towards the top right corner from outside the box, but Paul saved it brilliantly by diving towards his left. In the 88th minute, a deflected cross fell into the feet of Azuka at the edge of the box, whose shot hit Ashim and went back to Azuka again. He then fired a shot again, but Ashim blocked it once again which helped the keeper to collect it safely. Finally, the match ended in a draw and both teams shared a point each.
