Match 37 of Indian Super League 4, held on Jan 3 ,saw the FC Goa play against Atletico De Kolkata.

Atletico De Kolkata shared the points with FC Goa after a draw against them at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Corominas canceled Robbie Keane’s early strike to equalize the score for Goa.

FC Goa had 52% possession than ATK’s 48%.

Both teams entered the break on level terms

The match began after a 3-hour delay as the FC Goa team arrived late in Kolkata due to some technical issues of the flight. FC Goa won the toss and chose their side. In the 3rd minute, Keane got into the action as he ran forward and played a through ball trying to find Zequinha, but he over-hit and it went straight to the keeper. In the next minute, ATK got a free-kick in a dangerous position after Mohamed Ali’s handball just outside the box and Taylor stepped out to take the kick. He then whipped a ball towards Keane at the far post, Keane then rose and headed it into the bottom left corner and got much-needed breakthrough early in the game.

In the 6th minute Mandar found a loose ball on the right and saw the ATK custodian off the line, so he tried to find the far top corner. But his shot went above the roof of the net. In the 10th minute, Zequinha’s shot on target was well saved by Kattimani as the shot lacked power. In the next minute due to Goa’s defensive error, Taylor had only the keeper to beat. But his shot went straight to the keeper. In the 24th minute, Goa equalized the score on courtesy of some brilliant football from the Spaniards-Corominas and Lanzarote. Lanzarote played a through ball to Coro went around the keeper and slots it home. In the 28th and 32nd minute Keane came close to score a goal, but in both occasions, Kattimani collected the ball safely to deny a goal for the hosts.

In the 35th minute, Lanzarote unleashed a shot towards the goal from a free-kick, but his shot was punched away by the keeper safely. In the 42nd minute, Coro played Branden inside the box on the left, instead of squaring the ball to Coro, he himself took the shot and it was straight at the keeper who parried it away from the crossbar. Bedia then came almost scoring Goa’s 2nd goal after he fired a shot across the keeper from the left side of penalty area. But Majumder dived on the right side to deny a goal for the visitors. Both the sides went into the break leveled at 1-1.

Both teams share a point after a goalless 2nd half

As the 2nd half started both teams played patiently and were making simple passes to keep the possession with them. In the 53rd minute, Keane came close once again as his shot beat the keeper, but went over the cross-bar. In the 60th minute, Zequinha fired a shot from the edge of the box towards the goal after the ball came down to him, but Kattimani made a fingertip save to parry it over the cross-bar.Goa got their best chance of the half in the 74th minute after Corominas squared the ball to Mandar, but he fluffed the shot while trying to place it.

Ahmed then took the rebound ball and played a super pass to Lanzarote at the edge of the box, he then fired a shot towards the Goa, but Majumder saved it with ease. In the 81st minute, Nongrum played a diagonal ball to Taylor on the right, he then volleyed in a pass to Keane inside the box, but the keeper intercepted to make a vital save for the Gaurs. In the added time Kuqi cut the ball from the right and fired a shot towards the goal, but it got deflected into Keane’s direction. He then waited and volleyed a shot with his right foot, but it went over the cross-bar and waste a big opportunity. Finally both the teams shared the spoils in 2018’s first match.
