ISL-SEASON 4-MATCH-35-FC PUNE CITY VS NORTH EAST UNITED FC
Match 35 of Indian Super League 4, held on Dec 30 ,saw the FC Pune City play against North East United FC
FC Pune City was on a rampage after defeating North East United FC by 5-0 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune. Pune City won the game on courtesy of Marcelinho’s hat-trick and enforced a 4th successive defeat on North East in this season. Pune City had 58% possession than North East’s 48% possession.
Pune dominated the half with 3 goals
North East won the toss and chose their side. Both the sides started the game with some predictable passes and both the sides were waiting for an opening. In the 8th minute Marcinho picked the ball from the midfield and made a brilliant run towards the goal, but his shot was straight at the keeper who makes an easy save. In the same minute, Pune countered it with Lucca passing the ball to Alfaro and his shot got deflected and fell into the path of Ashique. He then slotted the ball past the keeper and scored his maiden goal in ISL.5 minutes later Alfaro chipped a ball to Ashique on the left, but his shot went over the crossbar.
In the 18th minute, Meitei’s beautiful cross got deflected off a defender and fell into the path of Rowllin. He then tried to slot the ball into the bottom right corner, but his shot got deflected off another defender and went for a corner. In the 23rd minute, Abdul Hakku played a super cross in the middle and Marcinho was unmarked in that position. He then headed the ball towards the goal, but it hit the upright and went outside. In the 27th minute, the hosts doubled their lead from Marcelinho’s free-kick. He curled the ball into the top corner which went past the keeper easily.
In the 41st minute, Marcinho tried to curl the ball into the bottom left corner, but his shot went wide off the post. At the stroke of the half-time Pune scored their 3rd goal of the night after an absolute blunder by Rehenesh. Marcelo received the ball inside the box from Lucca and fired a shot from the spot which went straight to the keeper, but the ball slipped through the hands of the keeper and rolled past the goal-line. Finally, the hosts went into the break with a 3 goal lead.
Pune jumped to 2nd spot in the table
As the 2nd half started, the visitors got a free-kick and Marcinho took it on the left flank in the 48th minute. He whipped the ball towards the post, but Kaith punched the ball away. In the 69th minute, Marcinho swung in a superb ball from the right and Danilo lopes met the ball with his head and directed it towards the far post, but Kaith made a terrific save by diving.
In the 81st minute, Alfaro sent a cross from the right after he saw Jewel Raja making run towards the far post. He took the shot, but it went to another side of the post. In the 86th minute, Marcelo scored his first hat-trick of this season after Tebar played a lofted ball to him inside the box. Marcelo then drilled in a low shot which beat the keeper at the near post.2 minutes later Pune scored their 5th goal of the night after Adil Khan toe-poked the ball into the post after he got the ball from deflections of the visitor’s defenders.
Finally, Pune dominated the game with a 5 goal and moved to the 2nd spot on the table.
