Match 34 of Indian Super League 4, held on Dec 29, saw the Mumbai City FC play against Delhi Dynamos FC.

Mumbai City FC was on a rampage against Delhi Dynamos FC after defeating them by 4-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai. With this win Mumbai moved to the 2nd spot on the table, on the other hand, Delhi suffered their 6th successive loss in this season. Delhi had 53% possession then Mumbai’s 43%.

Mumbai go into the break with a 2 goal advantage

Mumbai City FC won the toss and chose their side. Delhi started to put pressure on Mumbai defense from the word go. In the 6th minute, Abinash took the corner-kick and it found Gerson Vieira who then headed it towards the keeper. Mumbai was awarded a penalty after Arnab brought Everton down inside the box and Emana took the penalty. Emana missed the penalty from the spot as it hit the upright, but Lucian slotted the rebound ball into the post.

In the 23rd minute, Romeo got the ball on his right inside the box and unleashed a shot, but the ball went wide off the post. In the next minute, Balwant played a ball to Everton on his left, but his cross hit straight into the hands of Arnab. In the 25th minute, Nandhakumar fired a shot from a distance, but the shot was wide off the far post. In the 33rd minute Matias got the ball on his end after Ruidas clearance came to him, he took a shot with so much power, but it went wide of the left-hand post.

In the 43rd minute, a free-kick from Emana delivered a superb ball in the area of Santos, and the latter headed the ball towards the post and doubled the lead for the hosts.2 minutes later Pritam latched the loose ball towards the post, but it got deflected and went to Guyon and his shot was blocked by Raju. Then Nandhakumar’s shot was weak and went wide off the post once again. Mumbai’s Sehnaj and Delhi’s Mirabaje both were given a red card after a fight between them in the field. The hosts headed into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Mumbai jumped to 2nd spot in the table

As the 2nd half started, Mumbai scored their 3rd goal of the night from Ruidas’s corner. Everton headed the ball towards the post, but it hit the post and Thiago reacted quickly and slotted the ball over the line. In the 57th minute, Chhangte’s cross was lucky enough as it went towards the goal, but the keeper did well to track back and made a brilliant save in the end. 4 minutes later, Dias played a through ball to Romeo, but the latter’s shot went past the post by inches.

In the 79th minute, the hosts scored their 4th goal to put more misery on Delhi’s camp. Emana played a delightful chip over the Delhi defense and Balwant did the rest by chesting the ball and stroked the ball across the keeper to score his 5th goal of this season.6 minutes later David released a ball to Romeo, who then unleashed a shot from the spot, but his shot was superbly saved by Arindam in the end.finally, Mumbai defeated Delhi by 4-0 and moved to the 2nd spot in the league table.
