FC Goa defeated Bengaluru FC 4-3 in Match 12 of Indian Super League 4, held on Nov 30.

FC Goa became the first team to beat Bengaluru FC in this season after defeating them in a thrilling encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa. Ferran Corominas scored the first hat-trick of this season which helped his team to secure 3 vital points from the game. FC Goa had 54% possession than Bengaluru’s 46%.

Goa dominated the first half

Both teams started the game by playing in offensive mode and were trying to get breakthrough early in the game to build pressure on the opponents. Bengaluru got their first chance in the 13th minute, as Erik Paartalu’s managed to get his header towards goal, but Goa custodian came up with a smart save to keep the scoreline at 0-0. In the 16th minute, Goa scored their first goal of the match through Ferran Corominas, after he picked the ball from center and slotted the ball across the keeper in the bottom left corner to take a lead 1-0. After 5 minutes, Miku scored an equalizer and brought his team back in the game. He received the ball from Erik Paartalu, who unleashed a shot towards the keeper with more power.

FC Goa regained their lead in the 33rd minute after Corominas scored his 2nd goal of the night. Manuel passed the ball inside the box to Bruno Pinheiro, who then headed the ball to Ferran, who kicked the ball past the keeper to give his team lead. 3 minutes later, Bengaluru’s goalkeeper Gurpreet was given a red card after he pushed Lanzarote inside the box and conceded a penalty too. Abhra Mondal then came as a goalkeeper for them but he was not able to stop, as Lanzarote scored easily from the spot, as the keeper dived towards the wrong side. One minute later Corominas was going to score his hat-trick after he received a beautiful pass from Lanzarote, but Mondal deflected his shot with ease and it resulted in a corner for Goa. Finally, Goa headed into the break with a 3-1 lead and was in control of the game.

Corominas’ hat-trick seizes a thriller for Goa in the end

As the 2nd half started, Bengaluru players came to the field with an intent of either equalizing or taking the lead with Goa. FC Goa having got the lead, started to reduce the pace of the game by passing the ball slowly and not rushing. In the 56th minute, Chhetri unleashed a shot from outside the box towards the back of the net, but Kattimani smartly moved to his left and made a comfortable save. In the next minute, Bengaluru pulled a goal through Erik Paartalu after Edu Garcia’s corner saw Paartalu header going towards the target. Minutes later, Miku scored a brilliant goal and leveled the score. Miku comfortably went past 2 defenders and slotted the ball into the left corner.

Goa soon responded to it with their 4th goal in the game in the 60th minute. Corominas collected the pass perfectly from Lanzarote and went past the keeper to slot the ball into an empty net. With this goal, Corominas became the first player to score a hat-trick in this season. In the 85th minute, Nobrega fired as shot from a distance, but it went towards left corner and it was easy for Kattimani to make a comfortable save. Finally, the match was won by Goa with a score line of 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Bengaluru suffered their first defeat of this season, but they should be appreciated for their spectacular comeback in the 2nd half of the game
