Erik Paartalu’s twin goals set the first half for Bengaluru

Bengaluru FC won the toss and chose their side. In the 2nd minute, Edu Garcia got the ball and made an accurate cross to Miku’s head. Alas, Miku’s header went above the bar and a good opportunity for Bengaluru was wasted. Then both teams started to attack as they were keen to score the first goal in the game and have a control over the opponents in the remaining part of the half.

In the 15th minute, the hosts got another chance through Miku who got the ball from Rahul after Pratik failed to clear the ball and Miku had only the keeper to beat. However, Albino Gomes dived to his right and made an excellent save. In the 24th minute, Bengaluru scored their first goal of the game through Edu Garcia’s free-kick. The ball was received by Harmanjot Khabra’s header inside the box and he passed it towards Erik Paartalu, who had only the keeper to beat. He then headed the ball towards the post comfortably and gave his team 1-0 lead. Delhi then was desperate to score a goal and level the score, but Bengaluru’s Johnson halted their progress with strong defense from his side.

In the 41st minute, Albino made another save and stopped the hosts from scoring their 2nd goal. Sunil Chhetri passed the ball to Edu Garcia, and he unleashed a shot without much power, which helped the keeper to save it by stretching his arms. In the added time, Bengaluru scored their 2nd goal as Edu Garcia’s corner saw Paartalu inside the box, who just flicked the ball towards the post and doubled Bengaluru’s lead over Delhi. The hosts went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Bengaluru wins 4-1 and rules the table with unbeaten streak

As the 2nd half started, Edu Garcia made a good pass to Udanta after he saw him making an excellent run and Udanta unleashed a shot, but it went wide off the post. In the 57th minute, Bengaluru scored their 3rd after Chhetri took the ball from Udanta’s cross and he took a shot but it was saved by Gomes in the first attempt. But the rebound ball was taken by Lenny Rodrigues, who poked the ball into the post. Bengaluru started to slow down the pace as they were in firm control of the game with a 3-0 lead.

It was difficult for Dynamos to score 3 or more goals against a well-settled defensive unit inside 25 minutes. In the 77th minute, Miku’s shot was superbly saved by Gomes, who dived to his left to make a save. Finally, in the 86th minute, Delhi got a penalty after Seityasan’s cross inside the penalty area met Johnson’s hand. Kal Uche took the penalty and converted it into a goal comfortably, slotting the ball to the left, and sending the keeper capering to the right. In the next minute, Bengaluru scored their 4th goal courtesy of Miku and Chhetri.
