Match 132 of Pro Kabaddi League season 5, held on Oct 20, saw the Puneri Paltan play against Gujarat FortuneGiants.
Paltan and FortuneGiants lock horns
Paltan won the toss and chose their side on mat. Sukesh Hegde started the proceedings of the game with a successful raid. Paltan opened their account through Mondal in the do-or-die raid. Paltan kept scoring points through defence, whereas Gujarat kept scoring through their raiders. The lead kept on oscillating on either sides, as both the teams were not ready to give it up easily. Both the teams were neck to neck at the 8-8 in the 12th minute. Paltan then didn’t give any opportunity for Gujarat defenders to score points, but with the help of Sachin they kept the scoreboard ticking. Both teams went into break with 11-11 points.
Gujarat steals Paltan’s top spot in Zone A thriller
In the second half, Gujarat’s defenders joined the party and didn’t allow Paltan raiders to score a point easily. As all raiders struggled, Sachin was very successful in his attempt that helped Gujarat to take 16-13 lead in the 30th minute. But Suresh Kumar’s 2-point raid, followed by a successful tackle on Sachin tied the things up at 16 points each. Rinku and Hooda helped Paltan to maintain 2-point lead with 2 minutes left to play in the game. But a super tackle on Hooda, followed by 3 points in offence through Mahendra Rajput helped Gujarat to win the game by 23-22 in a thriller. Gujarat finally managed to overcome Paltan as Zone A toppers. Rinku Narwal and Sunil Kumar top scored for Paltan and Gujarat in the game respectively.
