Double crown for Vipul Mehta at BVG India – Arun wakankar memorial ATF Asian under 14 Series titles

Mubashira lifts girls title

Vipul Mehta of Delhi won a memorable double crown winning the boys singles and the doubles trophy while Hyderabad girl Mubashira Shaikh claimed the girls singles title , while Pune gilrs Richa Chougulae and Malikaa Marathe won the doubles title at the 9th edition of the BVG India -Arun Wakankar ATF Asian Under 14 Series Tennis Tournament 2015 organized by Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association (PMDTA) which conlcluded at the MSLTA School of Tennis Mhalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex here today.

In the finals of the event sponsored by BVG India and co sponsored by Solinco and Hot Muggs second seeded 14 year old Vipul Mehta a 10th standard student of Venkateshwar International School Delhi and student of Mayank Tyagi at the Punjabi Bagh Club outplayed bespectacled Nasik Boy Vikrant Mehta 6-0, 6-1 in just under a hour to claim the singles title.

Vipul later teamed up with Adarsh Tippabhatla of USA to register a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arka Ganguly and Srijesh Pillai to claim a double crown.

In the girls final sixth seeded Mubashira Shaikh ended the challenge of local girl Mallika Marathe winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in a 2 hour 45 min encounter. 13 years old Mubashira an 8th standard student of NRI Indians Springs International School Hyderabad who practices at Sania Mirza Tennis Academy under coach Akhtar Ali and Imran Mirza struggled against the 11 year old Pune girl Malikaa in the second set .

Marathe claimed the second set to level scores but looked extremely tired in the third set to go down 0-6 . Marathe however had the consolation of winning the doubles title alongside Richa Chougule also from Pune , the pair recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win against Sana Khanna and Tannaya Sah to claim the title.

The winner got trophy, certificates and 300 ATF points while the runners up got trophy, certificates and 200 points. The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr.Sunder Iyer, Hon Sec. of MSLTA. ITF White Badge Referee Vaishali Shekatkar and Mr.Pravin Zite were present on the occasion.
